Your route to Distinction star

Revision works when it has an order. Follow these stages rather than opening topics at random.

1

Learn R093 properly, because it is the only exam

The coursework is marked on what you produce. R093 is a 70 mark written paper and it is the part most students under prepare for. Know the job roles, the documents, the formats and the legislation cold.

2

Know exactly which document goes with which product

Visualisation diagram for a static product, storyboard for moving image, wireframe and navigation diagram for interactive. Confusing these is the single most common error in this unit.

3

Answer the command word you were given

Identify and state want a name. Describe wants detail. Explain wants a reason. Discuss and evaluate want a judgement. Writing a description where the paper asked for an explanation loses half the marks.

4

Justify everything against the brief

The difference between a pass and a distinction is almost never technical skill. It is whether every decision is explained in terms of the client, the audience and the purpose.

5

Get the licences right from the start

Every asset needs a recorded source and licence. Fixing this at the end means rebuilding, and using an unlicensed image can invalidate the work entirely.

6

Test with a real person and write down what they struggle with

You cannot evaluate your own product fairly, because you already know how it works. Watching someone else use it produces the evidence the review needs.
